Reorientation – In need of a career shift or fresh air?

Whether after many years on the job or early on in their careers, how many people wonder: “does my job make me happy? Am I happy with my job?” If your answer to that question is “no”, the solution may lie in a reorientation ...

... or career switch. But perhaps, you are simply craving a new working environment.

A good decision cannot be made precipitously. You may end up making the wrong choice for the wrong reasons.

We spend many hours a week at work. But work should be more than a means to have a roof over our heads; it should be more than a means to an end. A job should bring satisfaction and personal development and growth. This is no utopia: people who love their jobs and are happy at the office actually exist.

In order to decide which strategy is the most appropriate in order to achieve a balanced life, it is necessary to undertake an assessment of both the personal and professional aspects of your life.

Introspection is the first step of this decision process, and you should ask yourself the right questions. Why I have changed jobs so many times in the past few years? Do I have family or financial constraints that that can possibly damper my decision to change jobs? What is my current level of exhaustion or stress? Would I like to be more independent at work and take more initiatives? Do I have a passion that can earn me a living? The aforementioned questions are only a few examples of the questions that can help you assess whether you may be craving a new work environment or a career switch.

An assessment of your professional skills and experience can also reveal some interesting and surprising points! Once this reflection process is over, the next step is to explore the market.

Whatever your decision is, you can find some assistance by contacting career professionals. A career advisor can help you in planning your career switch and, if you are simply looking for a new working environment, we are here to help!
