How to choose the position that best suits you ?

A few years ago, changing jobs was a process that only took a few days; the number of jobs available on the market was equal to the number of job seekers, thus generating a rotation of staff from one firm to the other.

In most cases, the motivation to change jobs lied in job seekers’ desire to increase their salary or to improve their general work conditions and benefits. Job seekers’ motivation was simple; there was less introspection since there was a more limited number of jobs available and lower economic uncertainty.

Choosing the job that corresponds best to your needs is the ultimate step, which we first discussed in the first blog about the role of the adviser in a recruiting firm. We steered you in the analysis of the job market, the assessment of your professional situation, the creation of your resume, the preparation required before an interview, and now it is time to choose the best position for you!

In order to choose the best job, you now need to think about the following critical elements: short and long-term stability, personal ambition and growth, salary and benefits, standing of the position and the firm, corporate culture and values of the firm as well as the opportunities to evolve and be promoted within the firm.

You always need to follow your instinct since you may have to choose between two or three very interesting employment offers; think long and hard about your initial motivations and if/how they have evolved, rank your needs and desires, and discuss with your adviser who will know how to guide you in an often difficult choice.

Do not forget that you always have the prerogative to ask for a 24-hour time period to think about the employment offer, which is never badly perceived by the employer.

For more thorough advice, we are here to advise you!
